Predominantly defining the German-speaking world as its audience, ‘Olternativ’ is a two-week olive picking holiday programme, which takes place every November at Porto Helli, Greece.
We were commissioned to design the Web Site as well as to come up with a name for such a venture. The name ‘Olternativ Holiday Programme’ comes from the fact that the aforementioned scheme is meant to be an alternative holiday during which people will help with the olive harvest. Considering the fact that this initiative did not have a visual identity, our aim was to design a Web Site that would communicate its existence and the information required in such a way, so that it could create a distinctive atmosphere.
The design was inspired by the cultural juxtaposition that this very project introduces at the outset. The idea that the famous German culture of planning would meet the Greek one -famous for its spontaneity and festivity- culminated into a Web Site that works as a schedule (for a festival).
